About Sabrina Curry
I am currently a college student pursuing a career in Film and Animation. Film has been my passion for years but I have recently taken an interest in animation and new media as an outlet for expression and creativity. I chose to pursue a career in these areas because of how I can capture and interpret reality; it’s like designing dreams. I love everything about the cinematic world and I hope that one day my work will change lives like the great cinematographers of our age have changed mine.

Why did you answer the Lab's open call?
I answered this call because I find it ridiculous that once again a group of people are being denied rights that they should not have to fight for. What’s happening now to the LGBT community is no different than what happened during the civil rights and suffrage movements. If it weren't for strong individuals rising against intolerant minds I would not have the freedom that I have today. The stories of strong individuals like those at Stonewall should be heard because they made a difference.
Tell us about the first time you made a video or film
The first time I made a video was when I was about 11 years old with some neighborhood friends and a small pocket camera. I instantly fell in love with the art and even though the piece I created doesn't reflect my interest in that particular area, cinematography has heavily influenced my life and still continues to inspire me everyday.
Would you like to tell us your plans for your new prize?
My plans for my new prize is to put it towards my educational costs so I can continue to make more videos.
