Why did you answer the Lab's open call?
In 2009, I teamed up with Abigail Spindel and Dina Mann to create a half-hour documentary on New York City's Rainbow Pilgrimage campaign and the idea of marketing a social movement. It was our master's project for Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. When a Columbia professor told me about the WGBH Lab open call, I had to jump on the opportunity. The contest was perfect for the content of our documentary.
Tell us about the first time you made a video or film
I produced my first short video in 2003. It was an activist video for the umbrella peace organization United for Peace and Justice. Although it wasn't quite a documentary, it helped me realize my passion for the genre.
