Leper Wrought Iron Fence
Average: 4.6 (8 votes)

We have several hundred feet of Old wrought iron fence from the only Leper Colony in the U.S. Located in Carville, LA., my wife's grandfather was given the fence in 1940 as the company he worked for was remodeling some of the buildings. The area and some buildings were once part of a plantation home call The Indian Plantation, built in 1850. Several of the slave quarters on the plantation were use to house the first patients. Our fence was manufactured before 1900, as it has no weils and was pressed. One ironworker belives it was made in the mid 1800's, which would fit with the building of the plantation home in 1850. We would like to find out where this fence was made, what year it was made, how would one restore or paint it, etc.Look at the video and see what ya'll think

The subject matter of this video is very interesting. A leper colony and the only one ever in the U.S. The fence seems very unique.
