Our family's historian, Mary Dunnell Peters, has a wonderful collection of documents, photos and handwritten letters from the life of Mark Hill Dunnell, dating back to the mid 1800s. Of this collection, one of the prize possessions is a certificate signed by President Abraham Lincoln, appointing Dunnell as the consul to Vera Cruz, Mexico. On the reverse of the certificate, the document's text is hand written in wonderfully penned Spanish and signed by Mexican President Benito Juarez. Please help us determine a value on this wonderful collection!

Abe Lincoln Appoints Mark Dunnell......

Wow! This would really be interesting to see a value placed on during your show.

Dunell Documents

I really appreciate the amount of research you were able to include in your video piece. I particularly enjoyed hearing not just about 1 single document, but all of the historically, and politically significant works Mark Dunell contributed to bringing about. Your family's historical and political ties to not only the local area, but all over the country would make a wonderful documentary. I hope you are able to get your document(s) appraised and that perhaps one day, those documents will be on loan from your family to be displayed in a museum. If not a museum, perhaps preserved in a publication.

I really enjoyed this presentation and would love to see more.

I find this document extremely interesting and intriguing.
How fascinating to have a document signed by Abe Lincoln along with a Mexican President. It would not only be interesting to find out the value but if another document such as this exist. A great piece of American History.
Thank you for sharing.
